My View on Art

In order to establish my views on art, I had to lay out everything I learned from both views. I learned about how art is considered a “waste of time” in the culture of Effective Altruism. I disagreed with this belief because it is a passion for people. The way Haas and Hahn portrayed there views on art are out of this world. They ended up bringing charm to communities, but it wasn’t just them that did it; they made sure to incorporate people in the area. This is a very different way to do art. Most artist keep it to themselves and reap the rewards after the end result. Haas and Hahn were the ones to come up with the idea, but in the end, the whole “team” reaped the rewards. This really brought a lot of people together and made these  communities, that are infamous for crime, poverty, and hunger, feel joy.

This form of art really changed my view on it. I typically never had been into art, but I understand how art stands for beauty. I see the it in two ways: The way it looks is definitely considered “beautiful”, but also the power art has on people. Art has so many different impacts on the world, and everyone enjoys it. People listen to music, watch movies, enjoy paintings and more. People enjoy art but they also can create it. I have friends and their way of coping with stressful times is painting or drawing. It always does the job for them and I understand how. What I don’t understand is how art can every be viewed as a waste of time. It is universally enjoyed by everyone. Why should we stop it?
